Tarmac Contractors in Dublin

Tarmac is a practical choice for a busy driveway. It is quick to lay, it costs less than most other surfaces and, on a sound base, it stands up to cars turning and parking every day.

Choose black or red tarmac, finished with a border of granite, concrete kerbs or block paving to frame the drive and hold the edges. Granite steps and thresholds can be laid at the same time for a clean finish at the front door.

As well as new tarmac driveways, we resurface tired tarmac or concrete, cut out and fill cracks and holes, and lay tarmac for car parks and forecourts.

How It Works

How a Tarmac Driveway Is Laid

  1. Visit & Measure

We look at the drive, check the levels and talk through black or red tarmac and border options.

  2. Prepare

The old surface is lifted or made good, and the ground is dug out where a new base is needed.

  3. Base & Borders

The stone base is compacted and the border or kerbs are set to the finished levels.

  4. Lay & Roll

The tarmac goes down hot and is rolled firm and smooth, right into the edges.

  5. Final Check Together

We review the completed work with you and confirm everything has been done as agreed.

FAQs

Tarmac Driveway Questions

Can You Lay Tarmac Over My Old Concrete Driveway?

Often, yes. If the concrete is sound and at the right level, tarmac can go over it. If it is cracked, sunken or too high at the door, it comes up first. We check this at the site visit.

Black or Red Tarmac: Which Should I Choose?

Black is the classic, lower-cost finish and hides marks well. Red gives a warmer look that suits brick houses. Both are laid the same way and can have a granite or block border.

Is Tarmac Cheaper Than Block Paving?

Usually, yes. Tarmac needs less labour to lay than individual blocks, so it is one of the most affordable hard surfaces for a driveway.

Do You Repair Tarmac Driveways?

Yes. Cracks and holes are cut back to sound material and filled, and a worn surface can be resurfaced if the base underneath is still good.

Do You Lay Tarmac for Car Parks & Forecourts?

Yes. Tarmac is laid for car parks and forecourts as well as homes. See our commercial paving page for more on business and school projects.
