Patio Paving

New Patios Built to Last

A new patio is planned around how you use the garden: where the table goes, where the sun falls in the evening and how you step out from the back door. The size, shape and levels are agreed with you before any ground is broken.

Porcelain, granite and limestone each give a different finish. Porcelain is even and very easy to keep clean, granite is hard-wearing with a fine speckle, and limestone has the soft blue-grey colour seen in many Irish gardens.

The patio is laid on a dug-out, compacted base with a gentle fall away from the house, and every patio installation carries a 5-year warranty.

How It Works

How a New Patio Is Built

  1. Plan the Layout

We measure the garden and agree the size, shape and levels with you, with stone samples on site.

  2. Dig Out

The lawn or old paving is cleared and the ground is dug out for a solid base.

  3. Base & Falls

The base is compacted and set to fall gently away from the house.

  4. Lay & Point

The slabs are laid and cut to the layout, then the joints are pointed.

  5. Final Check Together

We review the completed work with you and confirm everything has been done as agreed.

FAQs

New Patio Questions

Which Patio Stone Is Best for an Irish Garden?

All three handle Irish weather well when laid properly. Porcelain is the easiest to keep clean, granite is the hardest-wearing, and limestone gives a classic blue-grey look. Samples come to the visit so you can choose in your own light.

How Big Should My Patio Be?

Big enough for the furniture you plan to use plus room to move around it comfortably. At the visit we mark out the area with you so you can see the size before anything is dug.

Is There a Warranty on a New Patio?

Yes. Patio installations come with a 5-year warranty, and the slabs are also covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

Can the Patio Be Level With My Back Door?

The patio is set just below the door threshold with a gentle fall away from the house, so rain drains off rather than towards the door.

Can You Lay a Patio Over My Old Slabs?

No. The old slabs and their bed are lifted so the new patio sits on a properly prepared base rather than on top of old problems.
