Driveway Repairs That Last

Most driveway problems start small. A dip where the car sits, a crack in the tarmac or a loose edging block lets water in, and over a winter that water works into the base and makes the damage bigger.

Block paving is the easiest surface to repair: the blocks over a sunken area are lifted, the bed underneath is relevelled and compacted, and the same blocks go back so the repair blends in. Cracks and holes in tarmac are cut back to sound material and filled.

Edging, kerbs and steps that have come loose are reset on fresh mortar. If a repair would not last because the whole base has gone, you are told plainly and shown why.

How It Works

How a Driveway Repair Works

  1. Find the Cause

We look at the damage and what caused it, such as water, a failed bed or a loose edge.

  2. Lift or Cut Back

Blocks are lifted, or damaged tarmac is cut back to sound material around the repair.

  3. Rebuild Beneath

The bed or base under the repair is relevelled and compacted so it will not sink again.

  4. Relay & Finish

Blocks are relaid and jointed, or the tarmac patch is filled and sealed to the edges.

  5. Final Check Together

We review the completed work with you and confirm everything has been done as agreed.

FAQs

Driveway Repair Questions

Why Has Part of My Block Paving Sunk?

Usually the sand bed or the base underneath has moved, often where a car sits or where water has been getting in. Lifting the blocks, relevelling the bed and relaying them fixes it.

Can You Match the Blocks on My Drive?

In most repairs the original blocks are lifted and relaid, so they match exactly. Where blocks are broken, the closest available match is used.

Can a Crack in Tarmac Be Repaired?

Yes. The crack or hole is cut back to sound tarmac and filled, which stops water getting under the surface and making it worse.

When Is a Repair Not Worth It?

If the drive has sunk or cracked across most of its area, the base has failed and repeated patching will not last. In that case a new driveway is the better value, and you are shown why.

Do You Repair Loose Kerbs & Edging?

Yes. Loose edging blocks, kerbs and steps are lifted and reset on fresh mortar so the edges of the drive hold firm again.
