Dublin Driveway Installers

A driveway takes the weight of a car every day, so most of the work is underneath it. The old surface comes up, the ground is dug out to the right depth and a compacted stone base is built with falls that carry rainwater away from the house.

On top of that base you choose the finish. Block paving gives the most choice of colour and pattern, tarmac is hard-wearing and lower in cost, gravel is the quickest to lay and drains freely, and resin bound stone gives a smooth, porous surface that needs little upkeep.

Not every drive needs replacing. A deep clean can bring back a tired surface, and sunken blocks or cracked tarmac can often be repaired. At the free site visit we tell you plainly which of the three your drive needs.

How It Works

How a New Driveway Is Built

  1. Visit & Samples

We measure the drive, check the levels and drainage and show you samples of each surface.

  2. Dig Out

The old surface is lifted and the ground is dug out to the depth the new drive needs.

  3. Build the Base

Stone is laid and compacted in layers, with falls set so water runs away from the house.

  4. Lay the Surface

Your chosen surface goes down with its edging and borders, and the drive is cleaned off.

  5. Final Check Together

We review the completed work with you and confirm everything has been done as agreed.

FAQs

Driveway Questions Answered

Which Driveway Surface Is Best for My Home?

It depends on budget, the look you want and how much upkeep suits you. Block paving gives the most choice and is easy to repair, tarmac is hard-wearing and lower in cost, gravel is the cheapest and drains freely, and resin bound is smooth, porous and low maintenance. We talk through each one at the site visit.

Can You Extend or Widen My Existing Driveway?

Yes. Driveways can be extended or widened, for example to fit a second car, as well as repaired or replaced. The new section is built on the same kind of base so it matches and wears evenly.

How Long Does a New Driveway Take?

It depends on the size of the drive, how much digging out is needed and the surface you choose. You get an idea of the time involved at the site visit, before you decide anything.

Do You Repair Driveways as Well as Lay New Ones?

Yes. Sunken or damaged block paving can be lifted and relaid, and cracks and holes in tarmac can be cut out and filled. If a repair will not last, we explain why a new surface is the better option.

What Happens About Drainage?

Water needs somewhere to go. Falls are set so rain runs away from the house, and channels or gullies are added where the drive meets the house or the road. Gravel and resin bound surfaces also let water drain through.
